For the analysis and investigation of material and coating properties, extensive and diverse test methods are available at the fem. Whether it's damage to components, the development of new products or quality assurance issues: the necessary tests on components and materials are carried out carefully, quickly and to the highest quality standards.

About 150 test methods are accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. Our interdisciplinary testing facilities include tensile and compression tests on standard specimens and components, tribological tests, hardness measurements using all common test methods, chemical analyses, layer characterisation, 3D X-ray computer tomography, scanning electron microscopy with focused ion beam and much more.

Moreover, with almost one hundred years of experience and know-how, we are the ideal partner for your R&D projects. As a research service provider, we develop innovative and tailor-made materials, coating systems and processes directly or within the framework of public funding programmes (e.g. ZIM).
